"Dux comes dux in fuga" is a Latin phrase that translates to "The leader (dux) as a companion (comes) in flight (fuga)." This phrase is often used to describe a situation where a leader is seen fleeing alongside their followers, rather than leading or protecting them. It can be interpreted as a criticism of a leader who abandons their responsibilities in a time of crisis. **

The Dux and Comes were determined in the late Roman Empire through a combination of military prowess, political influence, and the favor of the emperor. The Dux was a military commander responsible for a specific region or province, while the Comes was a high-ranking official who served as a companion or attendant to the emperor. Both positions were typically filled by individuals who had proven themselves in battle, demonstrated loyalty to the emperor, and had the support of influential figures within the imperial court. The appointment to these positions was ultimately at the discretion of the emperor, who would choose individuals he believed could effectively govern and defend the empire's territories. **

In a fugue, the Dux and the Comes are typically the same length, with the Dux presenting the main subject first and the Comes following with the same subject in a different voice. This creates a dialogue between the two voices, with the subject being passed back and forth throughout the composition. The length of the Dux and Comes can vary depending on the composer and the specific fugue, but they are usually of equal duration to maintain the balance and structure of the piece. **

One can recognize whether the subject is in the Dux or the Comes by understanding their roles within a sentence. The Dux typically functions as the main subject or the doer of the action, while the Comes often serves as a companion or follower to the Dux. Additionally, the Dux is usually the more prominent or important figure in the sentence, while the Comes is secondary or subordinate. Full-face helmets provide more protection for the face and jaw in the event of a crash, making them better for more aggressive and high-speed cycling such as downhill mountain biking or BMX racing. However, for general cycling, half-shell helmets are often preferred due to their lighter weight, better ventilation, and less restrictive feel. The choice between the two depends on the type of cycling and the level of risk involved. **
